about

The village I live in is celebrating its 50th anniversary. I wrote this song for a video that's being made. It's about life, love and it's an encouragement to see the best around you, not the worst.

lyrics

I think perhaps it's the clearer air
Or it's just that you can see further up here
Could it be a little perspective was all we needed
If you find a place to be...

Maybe we don't know how good we've got it
Maybe it'll be better still
I followed my feet today now this path's leading home
Home in a village on a hill

Around here you take the bad with the good
A simple life is often misunderstood
And all we have are the people around
And what is ours are the friends we've found
The time is short and the days rattle by
And I've found a place to be...

(middle eight lyrics by Sam D Grover)
You can attain fame and strangers may praise your name
But inside you’ll find you’re pining for that one place
Feet may lead you even beyond the sea
Over mountains and through deserts unending
But in the distance, beyond horizons, you’ll see that hill,
That home…
And return
